As long as you answer that question, you can easily determine how long should you hold an open position. It’s that simple. I’ve been doing this for several years and I’ve always found that holding a position for one week or two weeks is about right for most people. There are several things to look out for when deciding how long should you hold a Forex trade. One thing is that if you are holding a position for a shorter period of time, you will have much more leeway when it comes to taking profit. The opposite is also true; if you’re holding a position for a longer period of time, you’ll have a much larger chance of losing your investment. So it’s critical that you keep this in mind while choosing your holding periods.

The biggest problem with holding a position for too long is that most investors don’t understand how important it is to be patient in order to make a profit. You need to realize that you’re not going to make a profit overnight. It takes time, practice and persistence to succeed in trading the Forex markets.

However, if you choose the wrong time to hold your Forex position, you could end up losing all of your money.
